LIFE IN THE MIRACLE WORLD
By Malita Wamala
WEEKLY OBSERVER
The book of Esther is my favourite in the Bible, and was
thus pleasantly surprised when the Lord told me He specially
gave me that book for a reason.
When I told my friend this, she exclaimed: “But Job
is my favourite book! So why did the Lord give that to me?”
We had a good laugh over it, but later agreed we serve
an awesome God. He cares about us down to the nitty gritty.
On a good day, you will find me analyzing another scripture
from the book of Esther or Job.
I admire how much favour the Lord bestowed upon Esther
and I strongly recommend the movie, One Night with the King.
There are three aspects about the book of Esther I would
like to share; Vashti, the book of remembrance and Haman.
Vashti
In the first chapter, we are introduced to King Ahasuerus’
queen, Vashti. The Bible describes her as a beautiful woman.
But what I love about this part is that when it was God’s
time for Esther, the Lord had to dislodge someone, for Esther
to live her destiny. By a small mistake, Vashti was disrobed
and thrown out. And out of the many girls paraded before
the king for replacement, Esther found favour in the king’s
sight.
Now, we all have Vashtis in our lives. People who are enjoying
what is divinely yours, be it a job, position, ministry,
and so forth. Like Queen Vashti, they are meant to be there
for a time, but when your time comes, the Lord will pull
all stops to make sure you occupy the right position, even
when it means someone losing that position in your favour.
Yes, someone may get a better appointment and hand in a
resignation, to create a vacancy for you! I don’t
know what happened to Queen Vashti thereafter, but I am
sure God took her to her rightful position too. Just know,
all the Vashtis in your life are leaving at God’s
appointed time, in Jesus’ name!
The Book of Remembrance
The Bible says in Esther 2:21-23 that Esther’s uncle
Mordecai overheard two servants of the king plotting his
assassination, and alerted the king about it, thus saving
his life. Nothing was done to reward Mordecai at that time,
but the Bible says in Chapter 6, that the king became restless
and failed to sleep, until he sent for the book of records
and found out about Mordecai’s deed. In that chapter,
the Lord humiliated Mordecai’s arch enemy Haman, to
reward Mordecai.
Similarly, you have been doing a lot of things for the
Lord and felt you were not reaping at all. But trust God.
Someone is about to lose sleep and peace, until they have
done a good turn for you in recognition of your work.
The Lord is about to open a book of remembrance and for
everything you have done to glorify His name, a double portion
is about to come your way!
Haman
Nothing amuses me about this book like Haman. He fought
against the Jews and Mordecai for so long, but when the
Lord got fed up of his antics, Haman came crashing down.
The day he was humiliated with Mordecai’s reward (chapter
6), he had actually only come to the king’s courts
to ask for Mordecai to be hanged on the special gallows
he had constructed.
Instead, he found the king in a generous mood where Mordecai
was concerned and it is Haman who led Mordecai on a praise-demonstration
through the streets! Through Esther’s favour, prayerfulness
and determination, the Jews were also saved from Haman’s
wrath and instead, it was Haman who was hanged from the
gallows he constructed for Mordecai.
Do you have a Haman in your life? Don’t worry. How
else will he know the God you serve? Just surrender him
to God and at the appointed time, that enemy will be history.
